Canyon Europe was approached the customer to find a suitable trigger for use with sterile cleaning liquids that will function effectively in medical or pharmaceutical environment. This meant that the trigger had to be able to withstand high levels of gamma radiation in order to destroy any infection and eliminate air contamination to the fluid when the sprayer is in use. Current sprayers on the market were not able to withstand the high levels of radiation or stop air contamination.
In order to overcome these problems Canyon Europe worked in partnership with the Polymer Process Research Centre at Queen's University Belfast. As a result they developed an innovative design of the pump engine which means there is no air contamination in the fluid and no component material fatigue at high levels of radiation.
